Mark your calendars for the monthly Mahjong meet-up at O'Neal Library.
If you already know how to play Mahjong, you are welcome to attend any and all meetups!
Are you a beginner who doesn't know how to play? Then you need a lesson, which is held during the first meetup of each month.
Please read the information below about our Mahjong Meetups
Here’s how the program works:
Dawn and I have designed this series so that after the first meetup / introduction to tiles, you’ll attend the Monday meetups throughout the month to get the hang of the game. That practice time is where things really start to click—and it’s also a lot of fun!
When you register for the lesson, please plan to attend the rest of the month's meetups, all held Mondays from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM:
Here is what a month of Mahjong Meetups looks like for a beginner:
1st Meetup of the month – Introduction to tiles
2nd Meetup – Guided play
3rd Meetup – Guided play
4th Meetup– Guided play
During the guided play meetups, you’ll be seated with others who attended the same first-of-the-month introduction to tiles.
You will play a game of Mahjong while Dawn will be available to walk around, offer tips, and answer questions as you practice together.
Once you have an introduction to the tiles and play a few practice games, we hope you’ll keep coming to our Monday Mahjong Meetups!
Since we started last summer, over 200 people have taken the introduction to tiles, and the group has grown into a wonderful mix of beginners and more experienced players.
No matter your skill level, there’s always someone ready to play and help you learn.
