2nd Floor Quiet Room

The Bookies is O'Neal Library's Tuesday morning book group. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the library conference room. Visitors and new members are always welcome!

This month The Bookies will discuss Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers by Caroline Fraser.

Her book chronicles some of the most notorious serial killers of the 20th century, but, perhaps more importantly, Frasers work calls into question why these murders occurred. In the process, Fraser exposes a pattern of environmental destruction that calls into question whether or not environmental issues contributed to the sudden rise of killers in the Pacific Northwest. She looks to the not-uncommon smelters emitting poisonous lead, copper, and arsenic into the air as evidence mounts that people not only became sickened, but perhaps even worse. 

The Bookies meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 A.M.
