Emerging readers and adults, read Inside Scouts: Help the Kind Lion (by Mitali Banerjee Ruths) at home ahead of time, then come to Breakout to chat with other readers about the book and do book-related activities together.

Breakout is designed to promote the continued enthusiasm for and engagement with books as readers transition from passive listeners to active, independent readers. The program also offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to take a deep dive into a book with their reader.
