I've been a fan of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative since I was a kid! My family visited the O'Neal Library and other JCLC locations every week for free books, events, and public computer access. I started working in libraries part-time in 2016; in 2018, I was promoted to an Adult & Young Adult library assistant at O'Neal Library; and now, I serve the community as the Young Adult Librarian! I have a BA in English Literature from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2020) and a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama (2024).
You can find me on the 2nd Floor of the O'Neal Library excitedly recommending books to visitors, preparing fun & educational library events for teens, and finding literacy resources to anyone who asks at the Reference Desk. I credit my awesome librarianship powers to the O’Neal Library's Teen Advisory Board! These teens are the masterminds behind the library's exceptional events and services for their peers. Some of our best programs were inspired by TAB's ideas, such as the DIY Yums easy cooking series, Barks & Books and Cozy Cat-fe silent book club, and the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Student Debt financial literacy series.
I love learning and experiencing new things in my free time, so I have tons of hobbies: playing classical cello, caring for houseplants, crafting in front of a TV (my most recent craft obsessions are cross-stitch, polymer clay, and diamond painting), exploring festivals and markets around Birmingham, learning financial literacy, eating delicious foods, traveling, and reading webcomics.
