I came into the library field by accident. Years ago, a roommate of my cousin was working at the Bessemer Public Library and told me about an opening, after the company I had been working for closed. I never expected to stay in the library field after working in retail. I planned to retire from Loveman’s. 

For fun, I spend as much time as I can with my grandsons, watching them play baseball and soccer. I also enjoy gardening, traveling, and going to progressive rock concerts. 

As I approach my 40-year anniversary with the library, I would offer this advice to others: Approach work with some sense of humor. Life is too short not to laugh a little every day.
