I’ve always been a fun-loving, free spirit who never wanted to settle down in one city, so I find it absurdly unbelievable that I’m approaching 20 years at the library. Having started in Circulation, then spending five years in Administration, I finally found my niche in the Children’s Department.
As simple as it sounds, I am most fulfilled when pairing a child with the perfect book that will either take them on an exciting adventure or be a surreptitiously beneficial learning experience. The artist in me has also been thrilled to celebrate the creative talents of the young students in the community by planning art shows! Having left the University of Alabama years ago, armed with a MA in Journalism, I began an exciting, yet varied journey that led me to work as a newspaper reporter, a credit manager for a home-shopping cable network, and a senate staff member on Capitol Hill. However, the most important, most challenging, and most rewarding position I’ve been privileged to have is one that lasts a lifetime - the title of Mom!
