I graduated with a BFA in Painting from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Prior to my tenure here, I was an educator at both the McWane Science Center and the Alabama Waldorf School.

I monitor a literary reading group called Lost & Found that is devoted to reading lost classics from all over the world. I choose the titles and lead the discussions. I also maintain and purchase all the Sci-Fi/Fantasy titles as well as those in our adult graphics collection.

If I could meet any author, living or dead, I would choose Herman Melville, whose genius was monumental, almost Shakespearean. How he contrived a work of such prescience, of such extraordinary modernity and brilliance as Moby-Dick in 1850 still boggles the mind.
